"Down the Rabbit Hole,” Allegory’s first concept menu, was inspired by the beautiful, sprawling mural that stretches the entirety of Allegory's wall, painted by DC-based artist Erik Thor Sandberg. The illustration depicts Alice's Adventures in Wonderland through the eyes of six-year-old Ruby Bridges—the first African American child to attend an all-white school in New Orleans in 1960. The mural portrays young Ruby falling down the rabbit hole into a wild, new world, meeting a cast of whimsical yet ghoulish characters, including her friend Rabbit and the villainous Jabberwocky, whom she must defeat to save herself and her newfound friends. Cocktails imitate art, and the drink styles and flavors on the "Down the Rabbit Hole" menu are transformed to convey the narrative and character development of the painting, literature, and Ruby's real-life story.
